Race 1 – BEDE THOMAS MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1050 METRES
Congratulations to Stirling Osland and CHAIN OF LIGHTNING. Ashley Morgan sealed the win with a nicely timed ride by from the back of the field.
Race 2 – TATTS HOTEL / BRIAN BALDWIN MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES
A charging run up the inside rail saw Ashley Morgan nail an early riding double. Congratulations to Trainer Stafford Wayne with IMA POWERBALL (NZ) for the win Second place went to Jeremy Sylvester’s METAL BAR ridden by Ms Brooke Stower. In third place was Kevin Dixon’s DREAM LAD ridden by Ms Kacie Adams.What a finish to Race 3 – STEWARTS GRAIN TRADING BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP 1600 METRES with the Peter Sinclair trained AH WELL getting up in the last stride. A fantastic ride by Ms Rachael Murray.
The Inverell duo of Danni Schreck and Scott Sweedman were coming off a Inverell Sporties Goodwood Cup win with SUPREME HARMONY (NZ) on Boxing Day and on a quick back up ran a very close second. Third place went to OUR GIRL EVE trained by Paddy Cunningham and ridden by Ms Jodi Worley.
Inverell Trainers run the Quinella in Race 4 R.L MOSES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400 METRES. Al Foran’s SUPER ROCKER gave them something to chase and claimed victory with a great ride by Ms Madeline Owen. Second place went to Wayne Oakenfull trained HYLAND BAY ridden by Matthew Palmer. Third place went to Sue Grill’s MR SEVERINO ridden by Ms Brooke Stower.
Race 5 – SOS PHONE REPAIRS INVERELL SHORTS 1050 METRES. Troy O’neile’s CASSY’S SISTER was last on the final turn, pulled wide and flew home to claim victory with Ms Mikayla Weir in the saddle. In second place was GENERAL SCARLETT trained by Luke Morgan and ridden by Ms Casey Waddell. Third place was the Scott Singleton trained BUGALUGS ridden by Ms Rachael Murray
Race 6 – XXXX GOLD INVERELL CUP 1400 METRES. A huge win for Inverell Trainer Wayne Oakenfull’s RENEGADE ridden by Danny Peisley. RENEGADE came out of barrier 12 carrying 61.5kg. The Todd Payne trained TROGIR was coming off a Boxing Day second place in the Inverell Sporties Goodwoood Cup and backed up well to claim second place ridden by Ms Courtney Bellamy. Third place went to CAMP RIFLE trained by Tony Newing and ridden by Matthew McGuren. Wayne Oakenfull also had the fourth place finishing AMAZINGLY ridden by Ms Rachael Murray.
What a way to finish a race day – Inverell Trainer Todd Payne runs 1st and 2nd in Race 7 – CAMPBELL’S FUEL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1050 METRES. New to the Payne stable MR GRUMPY took the win. A great ride by Ms Madeline Owen putting 1, 6 lengths on second place MIDWEEK HUSTLER ridden by Matthew Palmer. A good ride by Ms Courtney Bellamy delivered Stafford Wain’s KINJINA a third place.
Ashley Morgan collected a riding triple by claiming victory in Race 8 – EHSMAN KELPIE STUD CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200 METRES for Trainer Stirling Osland. Ashley Morgan had GOLDEN POINT flying from the back of the field to secure the win. In a photo finish Trainer Sue Grills PASS THE CARD ridden by Ms Casey Waddell finished in second place. Third place went to the Peter Sinclair trained FROME THE STARS ridden by Ms Rachael Murray.
